It is possible for the jinn to inhabit houses in which the Holy Qur’an is not recited. If the vermin in the house are warned three times, as the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, commanded us, and they do not come out, then they are killed either because they are not jinn to begin with, or because they are demons of the jinn!
The jinn live in empty places such as caves and mountains. It was narrated on the authority of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal and Abu Qatada, may God be pleased with them all, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Let none of you urinate in a hole.” Abu Qatada explained that these are dwellings of the jinn!
From the above, we conclude from the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet that jinn and devils inhabit houses in which the Qur’an is not read and the name of God Almighty is not mentioned.

I never believed in the existence of jinn and ghosts in my entire life. I was a young man who, by the grace of God, found a bride who was a gift from God. We got married and all that was left for us to be together under one roof was to find the right house. Indeed, I found an apartment, what a beautiful apartment, at an unimaginable price. They told me at the time that it was haunted by jinn!
But I thanked the jinn who inhabited it for getting it at this fabulous price. Someone before me had started giving it the final color to renew it, but I was told that the discussion was not completed because of the horror of what he saw in it at night!
Basically, I am an engineer, and since I know how well it was built, I insisted on buying it, renovating it, and making it an exceptional kingdom. I brought in a contractor and his assistants, and asked them to work only during the day. They actually started implementing everything I asked of them, but in the first week I was involved in a car accident in which I broke my hand and leg. My family advised me to leave the apartment, but I was certain that it was fate and the apartment had nothing to do with it.
As soon as I recovered, the apartment was completely furnished, so I took my wife and we went to her. There, a heated argument broke out between us. I felt an overwhelming desire to grab her head and smash her against the wall to kill her. I resisted my desire, but I couldn’t, so I pulled myself together and left the apartment immediately, leaving my wife there in a state of shock from my completely exaggerated reaction.
I decided to stay in the apartment before my marriage to reassure my heart and make the right decision. I will not lie to you. I asked my close friend to stay with me and we tried to reach an explanation. From the first night, the great tragedy occurred. I saw with my own eyes a shadow following me wherever I went in the entire apartment. When I told my friend, he swore the same thing, but he was a small child who tried to talk to him!
We didn't go there again, but I decided to look into the apartment. It belonged to the brother of the neighbor who lived above it, so I went to him to tell me its history. The tragedies continued when I heard its story…
When the entire building was built, which was built on one very wide floor, it consisted of seven floors and the apartment was on the third floor. The electrician was finishing his work there and suddenly he was electrocuted and died in the apartment itself. The six floors were sold except for the third floor, so the owner of the building lived in it. Fate willed that his young son should die in the apartment’s bathroom, suffocated by gas!
The owner of the building thought about the apartment and felt bad about it and put it up for sale after he left it, so the father of one of the students assigned to one of the nearby universities bought it, and the great tragedy occurred when this student met with three of his friends, one of whom was a student at the Police College carrying a gun of his own, they used to joke together, so one of them grabbed the gun from his hand and started threatening them with it, playing with their nerves, so the police student quickly pulled the magazine from the gun, but he completely forgot that the parts of the gun itself were pulled by his friend, and therefore there was a bullet loaded in the gun that his friend fired jokingly at them and he did not know the story of the bullet, so their friend was killed in front of their eyes in a state of shock and astonishment!
The student entered a bad psychological state, especially when he saw his friend in every corner of the apartment, so he left his university and his life became ruined and he tried to commit suicide inside it, but his father saved him at the last moment. He took his son and put the apartment up for sale, so a man working in the Gulf bought it. He left it closed, and no one complained about it, except that the doorman and the neighbors noticed at night the opening of the door and windows and heard sounds as if people lived in it, so we decided to send to its owner outside to give us the key, so we could bring a Quran reader to visit it from time to time so that we could enjoy life in this building, which had become very frightening. But when its owner learned about it, he decided to put it up for sale at a low price, and it was yours when you decided to buy it. The strange thing is that you bought it knowing for sure that it was inhabited by jinn!
I told him that I did not believe in the existence of jinn until I saw them with my own eyes, and now the vision is clear before my eyes, as clear as the sun at noon. I almost killed my wife, the love of my life, because of the jinn who live in the apartment. I decided to leave it and not sell it so that no one else would be afflicted with it. Although I did not live in it and will not live in it, I always dream of being in it and being chased by the jinn and their constant attempts to end my life. So I decided to bring a sheikh to it and an imam from one of the mosques, who was determined to expel all the jinn from it, and indeed what I wanted happened, but I did not live in it either!
