Stories have an effective impact on the human soul, and that is why many stories are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, because stories are a very effective means of guiding the soul and leading it to truth, justice, success, and guidance.

God Almighty said in His Noble Book in Surat Al-A’raf: (So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought), and Imam “Abdul Rahman bin Nasser Al-Sa’di” explained in his interpretation of the verse (So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought) that it came to give us examples, and in the lessons and verses, so if they give thought, they will know, and if they know, they will act.

Allah the Almighty said in Surat Yusuf: (We relate to you the best of stories in what We have revealed to you of this Qur’an, although before it you were among the unaware), and our noble Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, followed this approach; he used to tell the companions many past situations and events, with the desire to guide them and build their character in this way.

The first story:

One of the most beautiful religious stories and lessons ever…

One night, our master Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, was checking on the conditions of the people as usual. He was roaming around the city and its outskirts, and while he was in this state, he saw a strange tent that he had never seen before. He approached it, wondering who was inside it.

When he approached her, he heard a groan coming from her. His heart broke and his worries increased, so he called out to her companions and suddenly a man came out to him. Our master Omar asked him: “Who are you?!”

The man answered him, saying: “I am a man from one of the villages in the desert. I have been afflicted with need and poverty, so I came with my family to ask for Omar’s support. It has come to us that Omar supports the shepherdess and works to take care of them.”

Omar, may God be pleased with him, asked him about what broke his heart and increased his worries: (What is this groaning that I hear?!)

The man replied: “It is my wife who is in labor pains.”

Then our master Omar asked him, saying: (Do you have someone to take care of her and deliver her?)

The man said to him: (No, it's just me and her).

Then our master Omar asked him, saying: (Do you have money to feed her?)

The man answered him with regret, saying: “No, we don’t have it.”

Omar, may God be pleased with him, said to him: “Okay, wait for me. I will bring you someone who will deliver her and provide for her food.”

Our master Omar returned to his home, and his wife was Mrs. Umm Kulthum, may God be pleased with her and satisfy her, the daughter of our master Ali bin Abi Talib. He asked her: (O daughter of the most honorable, do you want to have good that God has brought to you?)

She asked him about the good, and he answered her, may God be pleased with her and satisfy him, that there was a poor woman who was giving birth and needed someone to help her with her delivery, so she asked him if he wanted her to take charge of the poor woman’s delivery herself, so he told her, saying: (Come on, daughter of the most generous, prepare everything a woman needs for childbirth), and as for our master “Umar ibn al-Khattab”, he got up and prepared food and everything needed for cooking, and went with his wife to the man on the edge of the city.

As soon as they arrived, Umm Kulthum, may God be pleased with her, entered the tent to take care of the woman’s delivery. As for our master Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, he sat with the man outside the tent and began preparing the food. Suddenly, Umm Kulthum called out, saying: “O Commander of the Faithful, tell the man that God Almighty has blessed him with a son and that his wife is well, thanks to God.”

As soon as the man heard, “O Commander of the Faithful,” he was so astonished that he took a few steps back, for he did not know that this was “Omar ibn al-Khattab.” Our Master “Omar,” may God be pleased with him and satisfy him, asked him to control himself, so our Master “Omar” smiled and said: (Come closer… come closer, yes, I am Omar ibn al-Khattab, and the one with your wife is Umm Kulthum, the daughter of Ali ibn Abi Talib).

The man fell to the ground crying and said: (The Commander of the Faithful cooks for me himself, and the family of the Prophet will give birth to my wife!)

Our master Omar bin Al-Khattab said to him: (I will bring you the expenses as long as you are among us), and he went with his wife, Lady Umm Kulthum, may God be pleased with her and satisfy her.

They succeeded because they produced the approach of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. The elevation of our master “Omar ibn al-Khattab,” may God be pleased with him and satisfy him, was not due to mere prayer, fasting, and standing in prayer, nor to the conquests he made on earth. Rather, it was because he had a humble, submissive, humble, repentant, and repentant heart. He did not rise in status and position except because he established justice and spread truth on earth, and held himself accountable before God Almighty held him accountable on the Day of Resurrection.

The second story:

It is considered one of the most beautiful religious stories and lessons ever.

One day, the car of a heart surgeon broke down. He was very famous and many people knew him. One day, he went to have his car repaired by a mechanic he knew well.

While the mechanic was repairing the car and doing everything necessary, he was in a state of silence and thought. The doctor was surprised by the condition that had suddenly struck him, and before he could ask him about his condition, he found him asking his permission to ask a question, so the doctor gave him permission with a satisfied soul and a smiling face.

The mechanic asked, “Doctor, you perform surgeries on human hearts, while I perform the same or perhaps slightly similar surgeries on car hearts. You know, of course I mean car engines, just like you. Tell me why you make a lot of money and are very famous, while I make little money and no one teaches me?!”

The doctor approached the mechanic and whispered in his ear, saying: “What you said is all true, but these are provisions distributed by the Owner of the Kingdom, but I want you to answer me one thing, can you fix a car without turning off its heart?!”

The mechanic was silent, surprised by the doctor's question, and he realized that the comparison he had made had not been fair from the beginning.
