I do not know revenge or how to respond to pain with pain, but I know how small this world is and how quickly it turns, and the fact that the universe has a Lord who makes every cupbearer drink what he drinks.
Don't be sad! Whoever made you cry will cry tomorrow, whoever wronged you will be wronged, whoever hurt you will be hurt, and whoever let you down will be let down. As you judge, you will be judged.
The story:
One day, a very beautiful girl, a role model for good manners and morals, married a poor, destitute young man. She lived with him through thick and thin, and never complained about the harshness of life or the hardship of living with him. She bore him three children. Despite enduring hardships and desperate attempts to keep her family happy, she found nothing from her husband but coldness, beatings, and insults to the point of humiliation.
Her husband was ill-mannered, foul-mouthed, and cruel. As soon as he came to the house, nothing but terror and fear of everything would creep into their hearts. They were afraid to talk in his presence because of their intense fear of him.
One day, their hard-hearted father left them without even leaving them their daily bread. He left them in compliance with the orders of another woman, whom he married for her money and influence. As for the rich woman, she married him for his strength and youth.
Days passed one after the other until fifteen years had passed. The cruel father did not know anything about his wife or children. During this period of time, his health had failed him and his body had become extremely thin and weak. He had been overcome by illness. The first to bare its fangs in his face was his wealthy wife, for whom he had left everything. He did not find from her the kind words and excellent treatment he had known before. One day, she asked him for a divorce and as soon as he was thrown out of her house, she stripped him of everything she had given him earlier. What was even more difficult was that he learned that she had been in a relationship with someone else!
He returned as he was before, but even more lost than before. Before, he owned a house, although it was small, and he enjoyed the warmth and tenderness of those inside it. Now, however, he was homeless on the street, unable to provide for himself.
Days passed by, and then years passed, and he was still homeless, to the point that all the signs of begging appeared on him and his features became more severe. He became ragged and dirty-clothed, and made the streets his refuge and home. He would go to sleep awake, startled whenever he heard the sound of footsteps, fearing that they would take him to a mental hospital, and perhaps an eternal prison!
He found kindness and charity from the merciful people, some of whom would bring him a meal and some of whom would give him some money. One day, one of them did the most beautiful thing in life for him when he offered to take him to another city and work as a car cleaner in a private hospital. He found his offer to be a generosity he had never dreamed of, as he would finally be able to buy his daily bread and enjoy a safe haven.
And indeed he agreed to his offer, so the next day he took him to a beauty salon and recommended him well, and bought him the most beautiful clothes, so he became somewhat handsome, and after that he took him and went with him to the hospital and handed him his work on the same day, so the man became grateful to that kind-hearted young man.
He worked hard and always felt grateful. One day, while he was working, a very luxurious car stopped in front of him. As usual, he approached and opened the car door. There was a woman sitting in the car next to the young man who had helped him with his problem. But it was a great tragedy for him!
This lady, who was once his wife whom he had treacherously left with their children, recognized him, and the young man sitting next to him was her son and his son!
She looked at him, amazed at the state he had reached. His features had completely changed. The disease had left its marks on all of his features. She wondered how his condition could be like this, when he had left them for a luxurious life?!
How could life treat him in such a brutal way?!
Her thoughts were interrupted when her son got out of the car for a moment. The woman asked him, “Do you know who I am?!”
He said to her in a voice filled with sadness and sorrow: “I know very well that you are my wife, the mother of my children, whom I left one day without a single meal to satisfy their hunger.”
“You know, this is my eldest son,” she continued. “You certainly didn’t recognize him. I left them when they were very young. Now, the eldest is the owner of this hospital where you work, and his two brothers are now in the highest positions.”
I found him silent and tears streaming down his face, so I continued, saying: “God Almighty has blessed us after I divorced you in absentia by providing me with a kind-hearted, very wealthy husband who gave us all his money, and all our circumstances changed for the better. If it weren’t for your hard heart, your coldness, and your choosing of yourself over us, we wouldn’t have reached where we are today.”
“I used to say to myself that it was my bad luck to marry you one day, but I was wrong and completely ignorant of the rulings of my Lord, glory be to Him. I became certain that God, glory be to Him, does justice to the oppressed and decrees good for His servants, even if one of us sees evil in what he encounters with his limited vision. Do you know that if you had not left us one day, they would not have reached the state they are in today?”
The man held back the tears in his eyes. He saw his sons in front of him and did not dare to reveal the truth to them. He did not even dare to talk to them. He watched them and wished them more goodness to atone for even a small part of what he had done to them.
